Do I need planning permission for an extension?
Many single-storey rear extensions fall within permitted development limits, though this depends on the size and type of property, and on whether you are in a conservation area or the house has already been extended. Two-storey extensions usually need full planning permission. We check what applies to your home before we quote.
Will I need a party wall agreement?
If the work is on or near a shared boundary, a Party Wall Act notice or agreement is usually required before starting. We can explain the process and what it involves.
Do I need Building Regulations approval?
Yes. Extensions must meet Building Regulations for structure, insulation, drainage, fire safety and electrics. We manage the application and the inspections through to sign-off.
How long does an extension take?
A typical single-storey extension takes around two to four months on site, depending on size, groundworks and weather. Two-storey and wrap-around projects take longer.
