Kitchen Renovations Done Properly

The best kitchens are designed around how a household actually cooks and gathers, not just how the cabinets look on day one.

ADO Builders renovates kitchens across Surrey, from straightforward refits to open-plan layouts with new steelwork, islands and underfloor heating. We handle the building work as well as the fitting: plumbing, electrics, plastering, flooring and finishing, so there is one team on site and one person to call.

Every kitchen starts with a layout that suits the way you cook, and we build it properly underneath, so it still looks and works well years from now.

What Goes Into a Kitchen Renovation

Structural work

Taking out a wall for an open-plan layout needs a structural engineer's assessment and steel beams to carry the load. We manage both.

First fix

Plumbing, electrics and ventilation are run before the walls are closed, so everything behind the units is right.

Plastering and preparation

Walls and ceilings are plastered and prepared properly, so the finish and the paint last.

Floors and heating

Level, insulated floors and electric or wet underfloor heating, fitted before the units go in.

How Much Does a Kitchen Renovation Cost in Surrey?

Typically £15,000 to £40,000

Most full kitchen renovations in Surrey fall in this range, including fitting. The final figure depends on:

  • The size and layout of the kitchen
  • The units, worktops and appliances you choose
  • Whether walls are removed and steel is needed
  • Underfloor heating and new flooring
  • Plastering, lighting and electrics
  • The level of finish

We give you a clear written quote after a site visit, so you know the full cost before any work starts.

The Process

How a Kitchen Renovation Works

01

Plan the layout

We visit, talk through how you cook and live, and agree the layout and the scope of work.

02

Structure and approvals

Any structural changes are engineered, and Building Regulations are handled before work starts.

03

Strip out and first fix

Old kitchen out, then plumbing, electrics, plastering and flooring.

04

Fit and finish

Units, worktops, lighting and final fixes, then a full handover.

Common Questions

Kitchen Renovation FAQs

Do I need planning permission for a new kitchen?

A like-for-like refit generally does not need planning permission. If the kitchen is part of a wider extension, that falls under the extension's own permissions.

Can you remove a load-bearing wall?

Yes. This requires a structural engineer's assessment and Building Regulations sign-off, which we manage as part of the project.

How long does a kitchen renovation take?

A full kitchen renovation typically takes around three to six weeks on site, depending on whether structural work, new flooring or an extension are involved.

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Surrey?

Most full kitchen renovations in Surrey fall between roughly £15,000 and £40,000 including fitting, depending on the size of the room, the units and appliances you choose, and any structural work. We give a clear written quote after a site visit.

Do you handle the plumbing and electrics?

Yes. We manage the plumbing, electrics and gas work as part of the job. Electrical work is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations and is certified on completion.

Can I live at home during a kitchen renovation?

Usually, yes, but the kitchen is out of action while it is stripped out and refitted. We plan the work to keep that period as short as possible.
